Keep an open mind when thinking about what constitutes "the right horse."

Visit the horse(s) you are considering before committing to anything.

Expect to pay an adoption fee.

Be patient.

Read the adoption application and contract carefully before signing either.

Don't ask a rescue or adoption agency to "make just one exception."
